A little about me

My start in theatre came at an early age in a school play. It was a simple primary school play. But it instilled an interest in the preforming arts, originally wanting to become an actor. At secondary school, I wasted no time getting involved in the drama department. While there, I was given the chance to get involved with the technical aspects of theatre. Help with the lighting and sound. Do a bit of follow spotting. It was love at first sight. It was something that still allowed me to explore the creative world of theatre. But appealed to my geeky, techno loving brain. I was hooked. Since then it has been a one-way track to finding a career in the technical theatre industry.

I trained at Bedford College for 2 years on a BETC course for Production Arts. This was when I got my first taste for lighting design. Above all the other aspects I had been studying, this medium really resonated with me. A style of art and creativity I understood and deeply enjoyed exploring.

After Bedford, I took his training further by applying to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. For their Technical Theatre and Stage Management course. During my second year I specialized in a Lighting, learning all the technical aspects of it. Then at the end of my second year and throughout the whole of my third and final year. I specialized further into pure lighting design. Designing for 4 theatre productions, 3 projects (Dance & Live Events) and finally a festival where I designed 30 small fringe scale shows over 3 weeks.

I now work in London as a freelance Lighting Designer for various shows both in and out of London. Between designs, I work as a lighting technician, programmer, re-lighter, associate/assistant, etc.

I have designed for plays, opera, musicals, dance pieces, installations, live events and more.
